Pen and Paper
Pens are rapid, reliable, and require me to be confident in my decision making. You cannot take back a mark once you make it, so I often spend time “practicing” how I want to make a mark before I actually touch the tip of the pen to the paper. When I make a mistake, I have to think about how I can incorporate stray lines in my overall design which helps to drive growth. At first, I used to rely solely on line thickness to create dynamic compositions but now I also think about how I use my body (hands, wrist, elbow, shoulder) to create a mark. Using pen is always exciting and my go to medium when creating art when with my friends or wandering around Austin.
